15 children injured as live wire falls on school bus in Dholpur

Jaipur: At least 15 children are reported injured on Friday morning after a high tension wire fell on a school bus in Basedi village in Dholpur in Rajasthan.

According to the reports, an 11 KV electricity wire reportedly scraped the top of the school bus, which was carrying 45 children, leading to the wheels catching fire.

The injured children have been hospitalised. While five children are being treated at a Dholpur hospital, the others have been admitted in a Basedi hospital.

One pregnant woman who came with a child to drop him at the bus stop also came in contact with electric current, the officer said, adding, the driver also received minor bruises.

The incident occurred when the private school bus was at the stop to collect students from their respective stops on Bhagwanpura and Kallupura road when the high tension wire (11000 kw) fell on it, the Dholpur SP, Rajesh Singh said.

Dholpur MLA Rani Silautia reached the spot along with some officials of the electricity department. However, no case was registered till the time of writing this report.

This incident comes weeks after 15 members of marriage party were electrocuted to death after the bus they were travelling in came in contact with a live wire in Rajasthan’s Tonk district.
