Patanjali declared as top FMCG advertiser this week; outnumbers big brands

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev's Patanjali Ayurved Ltd. has outnumbered big brands like Cadbury, Parle and Ponds, becoming India's biggest FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) advertiser. Reports from Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC), say that the brand's advertisement appeared 17,000 times between January 23rd and January 29th. Cadbury's ads appeared 16,000 times bringing it on the second position.

According to Baba Ramdev's spokesperson SK Tijarawala, the company took a conscious decision to show its ads largely in news channels to target the 'intelligent audience'.

"We got the first ranking this week also because of all our seven TV commercials were rolled in together this time. We are coming out with seven more products, so there are more ads in the pipeline", he said.

Patanjali chose to show 7 products out of 30 for a heavy attack last week. The products are butter (ghee), shampoo, biscuits, noodles, honey, dental cream and aloe vera cream.
