Banks has to keep CCTV tapes since note ban: RBI

New Delhi: Today is the 35th day of demonetization. A new notification came from the RBI directly to the banks chiefs.

On Tuesday RBI said that all banks has to keep CCTV tapes since note ban which means 8th November to 30th December 2016.

The central bank said this was being done "to facilitate coordinated and effective action by the enforcement agencies in dealing with matters relating to illegal accumulation of new currency notes”.

This notification came on a day after when a junior RBI official was arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly trying to convert Rs 1.5 crore in old currency.

Between November 8 and December 6, I-T department says it has unearthed undisclosed income of Rs 2,000 crore and seized more than Rs 130 crore in cash and jewellery.
