Good News: No service tax on train tickets booked through IRCTC

New Delhi: A good news came for the train passengers. Train ticket becomes cheaper from this Wednesday.

The railways ministry announced the waiving of service tax charges on online bookings done through the IRCTC website till December 31, 2016.

This decision is to encourage cashless transactions in the wake of the demonetisation exercise. A tax of Rs 20 is usually levied on sleeper class tickets and Rs 40 on AC class tickets while transacting via the government-run website.

Due to the ban of Rs 500 and Rs 1000, people face so many troubles. This new announcement is came for reducing the people's trouble and encouraging the cashless transactions method.
