Indonesia: A powerful earthquake struck on Sunday in the tourist place Lombok, resulted the death toll rises to 98 and moe than 200 people were injured.

According to the sources, the quake, recorded at magnitude 7.0 by the US Geological Survey, struck early Sunday evening in the northern part of Lombok.  The neighbouring countries like Bali had experienced a major after shocks.

It was the second time the deadly earthquake hitted Lombok in past one week. On July 29, th quake killed 16 peple and hundresds of houses were damaged.

According to National Disaster Mitigation Agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho,“People panicked and scattered on the streets and buildings and houses that had been damaged by the previous earthquake had become more damaged and collapsed,”. The rescuers havent reached to some major destucted sites and the death toll may rise.

A joint search and rescue team was evacuating hundreds of tourists from three popular vacation islands off the northwest of Lombok.
