BJP slams Azam Khan for calling PM a murderer

Urban Development Minister Mohd. Azam Khan in his statement called prime minister Narendra Modi a murderer which brought a roar of outburst from the state unit of Bhartiya Janta Party.

Angry at Khan's statement state spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak warned Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav of serious consequences if he failed to rein in his minister.

He said that more than Khan's utterances, the silence of Akhilesh Yadav on the matter was disturbing.

"During the Lok Sabha election, Azam Khan hurled the choicest of abuses at Modi but now that he is a democratically elected prime minister of the country, this lumpen behavior of a cabinet minister cannot be tolerated", Pathak said while adding that the state BJP would launch an agitation against the minister if appropriate action was not taken against him.

Azam Khan is one of the most controversial ministers in the UP cabinet known for giving provoking statements. He also targeted UP Governor Ram Naik by calling him a 'pujari' (priest).
