25 MPs of Congress suspended from Parliament for causing disorder

25 members of the Congress party has been suspended for 5 days by Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan for creating disruption in the Parliament proceedings.

The party members were given repeated warnings not to carry placards and wear black bands in protest to the Parliament. However, president of the Congress party, Sonia Gandhi, during a meeting with her MPs, gave strict instructions that the protests would continue till the BJP leaders caught in controversies are removed.

"The Congress stuck to its demand of 'first resignations and then only the house will run'. However, other parties are of the view that the house should function and there should be debates and discussions on a lot of issues, from regional to national", Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu said.

The house was adjourned for the day after the speaker announced the punishment.
