Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced the memorable Balakot's Air Strike Planner Samant Goel as the new chief of the Indian Extrenal Spy Agency, R&AW (Research and Analysis Wing). PM Modi who is also the chairman of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet in this Session of the government also announced Arvinda Kumar as the Director of the Intelligence Bureau in Kashmir.

While Goel and Kumar both have been the officers from the Indian Police Service, Goel had been from Punjab Cadre and Kumar from Assam Cadre both from the 1984 batch. Goel had been working with the external intelligence agencies before being appointed in R&AW and had also been the mind behind the Balakot Air Strike that took place in February 2019. Kumar had been working with Intelligence agencies and had been dealing with left-wing extremism before being appointed as the Director of IA in Kashmir.
