Union Minister Smriti Irani on Sunday said that on the day when Prime Minister Narendra Modi decides to leave politics, he will also quit politics. However, he emphasized that there is still a lot of time remaining in such a time. Smriti said this during a discussion at the Word Count Festival here, which was named 'Scripting every story'. In the meantime, one of the audience asked Smriti when he would see them as 'Pradhan Sevak'.

In response to this viewer's question, Irani said, never, I came to politics to work under the leadership of charismatic leaders. I am fortunate to work under the leadership of late Atal Bihari Vajpayee and now I am working under the leadership of Modi ji. He further said, on the day when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will decide to hang his shoes, I will also leave Indian politics.
