Jammu: The major terrorist plan bursted out on Sunday. The Jammu- Kashmir police claimed to have arrested a terrorist along with 8 live hand grenades.

According to the sources, the terrorist identified as Arfan Wani, a resident of Awantipora in Pulwama district of south Kashmir, was arrested from Jammu’s Gandhi Nagar area. The terrorist possesed 8 live hand granades and a cash of rupees 60000.

Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Dr S D Singh said the cache of grenades were headed for Delhi and could have been used to disrupt Independence Day celebrations in the Capital.

According to the police official, on the basis of intelligence inputs, that terror groups Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen were planning terror strikes on J&K and on Delhi on the celebration of Independence day, on 15th August.

As per the police, the terrorist is under going a strict interrogation, to get the information about their plan and the contacts in the city and outskirts.

The Jammu police chief said that during interrogation the 25 year old terrorist revealed that he was active in terrorism since last one year. The terrorist added that he was affiliated with Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind led by Zakir Mussa and added that he was in touch with number two of the outfit.

The IGP said the interrogation of the terrorist was going on. He said that they were looking into all aspects and they were also checking his mobile phone for more information. The Delhi Police said that it would be questioning the accused. A team of the Special Cell had already reached Jammu.
