Allahabad: The chief of the Republican Party of India and the Union Minister of Justice and Empowerment, Ramdas Athawale raised the issue that SC/ST employees were being deprived of reservations in government job promotions.

Ramadas Athavale, while addressing a meeting in Sangamnagar on Friday, said that the "Central government is in the process of making laws. Bills can be brought in this regard during the monsoon session of the parliament beginning from July 18, to pave the way for reservation in job promotions for employees belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories".

The Union Minister of justice said that the promotion is also being tried for the provision of reservation. Athawale took a jibe on the Opposition and said that the Opposition is constantly misleading the people of the country on the reservation issue.

Dalit leader Ramdas Athawale added that the Central Government does not intend to end the reservation of Dalits and Backward Classes. He also discussed the issue of not having a majority in the Rajya Sabha to pass the bill, "the opposition should support the bill for the benefit of Dalits and backward classes". Athawale also advocated giving 25 percent reservation for the general category and said that reservations can be made to the general category by making laws in Parliament.

Union Minister of Justice Ramdas also commented on the support given to Samajwadi party by Bahujan Samaj Party President Mayawati. Athavale said that sensible leader like Mayawati should not have compromised on her biggest enemy. He commented that Mayawati is always concerened about her own benefits "Mayawati gave support to Samajwadi Party, not for Dalits but for her own benefit".

Ramdas further, suggested to BSP chief Mayawati, that BSP should support BJP and made her remind that earlier, with the support of BJP, Mayawati was able to grabbed the position of Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and today, she is cursing BJP as"Manuwadi". He suggested BSP supremo Mayawati that in the coming Lok Sabha elections, she should leave the Samajwadi Party and should support BJP.
