Santkabirnagar: PM Modi visited Maghar in Sant Kabir Nagar district on the 500th death anniversary of Sant Kabirdas. PM Modi inaugurated a two-day Kabir Mahotsav organised by the Union Ministry of Culture at Maghar in the district. 

The festival was being organised to mark the 500th death anniversary of mystic poet and saint, Kabir Das. Maghar was once superstitiously believed to be a “Gateway to Hell’ until Saint Kabir broke this. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture Mahesh Sharma also attended the inauguration ceremony.

According to the officials, the Prime Minister offered a floral tribute to Saint Kabir samadhi and offered a 'chadar' at Sant  Kabir's 'mazaar' in Maghar and took the round of Sant Kabir tomb.

According to the BJP's zonal vice president Satyendra Sinha, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for Sant Kabir Academy being set up to highlight the saint's teachings and philosophy. The academy is expected to cost of Rs. 24 crore.

PM Modi addressed the public meeting and at least 2 lakh people were gathered. In the public meeting PM Modi said" Akhilesh Yadav government was concerned about own bunglow, but exploited the poor. Those dividing society never understood Saint Kabir".

PM Modi takes a jibe at Samajwadi Party's Akhilesh Yadav. "Some people are only concerned about power. They never worked towards the development of the society and the poor and Dalits,".

 PM Modi added that Saint Kabir Das showed the way to communal harmony.
