The Congress party have lost the assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal, party president Rahul Gandhi on Monday accepts the defeat and came out to media on Tuesday where he said  the results show that a question has been raised on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's credibility.

"Questions have been raised on Modiji's credibility. His credibility is at stake," Rahul said.

Thanking the people of Gujarat for all the love, he said: "People of Gujarat gave me a lot of love. They taught me that any amount of anger and money cannot defeat love. Gujarat has given the message to Modiji and the BJP that this anger will not help them in any way," Rahul added.

After the verdict on Monday Rahul had tweeted ,the Congress party accepts the verdict of the people and congratulates the new governments in both states. I thank the people of Gujarat and Himachal with all my heart for the love they showed me.

"My Congress brothers and sisters, you have made me very proud. You are different than those you fought because you fought anger with dignity. You have demonstrated to everyone that the Congress’s greatest strength is its decency and courage," he had said.

BJP took 99 seats in the 182-member assembly, down from 115 it won in 2012, and far lower than the 150-plus seats it had hoped for.
