Jallikattu protest: Chennai streets turn a battleground

Chennai: Chennai streets turns a battleground because of jallikattu. On Monday morning police force reached Marina beach for solving the matters of protest. But the supporters across Tamilnadu were fighting pitched battles with the police.

In Alanganallur near Madurai, 15 people were injured in police lathicharge. ON Monday Chennai woke up to a violent day as police moved in to evict the protesters from Marina beach around 6:15 am.

The situation got out of hand around 10am when protesters came out of the beach and pelted stones at policemen on the road. By night, some 1000 Jallikattu supporters were staying put on the Marina.

The protesters used petrol from the vehicles to make fuel bombs.
