Cyclone Vardah: Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh On High Alert

Chennai: Cyclone Vardah is expected to make landfall today in TamilNadu. Since morning, the people of  coastal areas of the state have experienced heavy rain and strong wind.

TamilNadu and Andhra Pradesh are on high alert. Team from the navy and National Disaster Response Force are on standby.

Cyclone Vardah is likely to make landfall near Pulicat, around 60 km from Chennai. Expected that the speed of wind will be around 80 to 100 km an hour.

On Sunday evening, CM of  Andhra Pradesh  N Chandrababu Naidu also reviewed the situation through teleconference with top officials.

He said food and other essential commodities have been kept ready in adequate quantities. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is closely monitoring the situation of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
