Modi greets nation on Onam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday  greets the nation  on Onam.

He prayed for harmony and happiness across the country.

He tweets, "Onam wishes to you all. I pray that this special festival furthers the atmosphere of harmony & happiness across our nation'.

 

It is to be noticed that Onam is the biggest harvest festival celebrated in Kerala.

It  marks the commemoration of home-coming of the King Mahabali.It is believed that he comes from the underworld to visit his citizens.

People says Kerala had  its golden period under the reign of King Mahabali.

Politicians tweeted out their Onam wishes while Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu made announcements of two new trains for the occasion of Onam.

Union ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad tweeted,

 Minister of Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar also tweeted out their Onam wishes
