BCCI secretary defends Sundar Raman saying he is not guilty

BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur defended IPL Chief Operating Officer Sundar Raman during a news conference saying Raman is an employee of the Board and not a decision maker.

After Justice Mukul Mudgal probe report saying Raman was in touch with the contact of a bookie and had called him eight times in a season, Thakur cleared the air saying,"Sundar Raman is an employee of the Board and he does not have that say to be a decision maker in the Board. See, it is the IPL Governing Council which takes the decision and not the employees. It is the members who take decisions. They (employees) implement the decision which we take."

The probe report of 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal, termed Raman as a key decision-maker dealing with all aspects of organising the game.

However, Anurag Thakur said that Raman has not been found guilty as there is no verdict against him.
