Ravi Shastri appointed Team India's interim coach for Bangladesh tour

New Delhi: Former Indian skipper Ravi Shastri has been named as the interim coach of Team India during the tour of Bangladesh starting June 10, confirmed BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur on Tuesday.

"BCCI has appointed Ravi Shastri as the interim coach for Bangladesh tour," said Thakur while talking to the media.

“Mr. Sanjay Bangar, Assistant Coach (Batting), Mr. B. Arun, Assistant Coach (Bowling) and Mr. R. Sridhar, Assistant Coach (Fielding), will assist Mr. Shastri during the tour. Mr. Biswarup Dey will be the Administrative Manager. Mr. Rishikesh Upadhayaya has been appointed as Logistics Manager for the tour,” he added.

The Shastri wore different hats in the past with the Indian team and BCCI.

Recently, Shastri played the role of Team India Director during tour of Australia and ICC cricket World Cup 2015.

India will play one Test and three One-Day Internationals during the tour of Bangladesh. From June 10 in Fatullah, India will play the one off Test against Bangladesh, followed by three ODIs in Mirpur (June 18, 21, 24). The team will leave for this assignment on June 7 from Kolkata.

Shastri has played 80 Tests and 150 ODIs for India and was part of the Indian side, which lifted the 1983 World Cup.

On Monday, Tendulkar, Ganguly and Laxman were inducted into the BCCI to guide the Board and the national team on various “progressive steps” needed for future challenges.
