A much surprising statement came when the Former J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba MUfti blamed the new orange color jersey to be the reason behind India's first defeat in this season of the ICC World Cup. Mufti through a tweet said, "Call me superstitious but I'd say it's the jersey that ended India's winning streak in the #ICCWorldCup2019." The Indian team had been the only team that did not lose any match in the tournament until Sunday when the Blue Army lost against England with 31runs.

The Indian team had to change it's jersey due to ICC's home and away rule. The team earlier wore Blue jersey for the limited overs ever since the Indian cricket was born. There had been many debates regarding the choice of the colour for the new jersey and atlast a combo of navy blue and orange was finalised. With just a match away from securing a spot in Semi-finals, India lost the match. Now the men in blue have just two more matches left in hand out of which the team has to win one match to finalise it's place in the next round of the tournament.
