One of the best openers of the Indian team, Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of rest of the matches of the mega event of cricket, the World cup playing elevens. The batsman had also been out of the team in its last match against Pakistan. Dhawan had been on rest following an injury in his thump. He was earlier given rest for a few couple of matches.

Following the medical procedures, it is revealed that the player has succumbed thumb fracture owing which he will have to take rest firm the playing elevens. In the last match against Pakistan on sunday, June 16, he was replaced by K L Rahul who along with Rohit Sharma opened the batting order. While for the tournament, Rishabh Pant has replaced Dhawan.

Shikhar Dhawan who had been a consistent player from team got injured in the match against Australia when he was struck with the ball delivered by the Australian bowler Pat Cummins.
