SP leader's son injured in firing

Samajwadi Party leader Mahendra Pal's 32-year-old son was injured in firing during a brawl in Sahibabad area of the district.

Manoj, the son of SP leader Mahendra Pal, was returning home from his factory situated in Anand industrial area in his car along with some of his friends last night when the incident happened, SHO Sahibabad Upendra Yadav said.

Manoj and his friends objected to three persons who were blocking traffic and a heated argument broke out.

In the meantime, a factory guard rushed to the spot and in his bid to pacify them his gun went off, police said.

Manoj received pellet injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. An FIR has been registered and police have arrested the guard, the police officer said.

Congress workers protest against Giriraj Singh's remarks on Sonia Gandhi

Several Congress workers on Saturday staged a protest against Union Minister Giriraj Singh for his remarks on Congress president Sonia Gandhi, at Aradhna Cinema trisection here.

The protest was led by organising secretary, Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee, Narendra Rathi, former minister Satish Sharma and Harendra Kasana, president of district Congress committee.

Addressing the workers Rathi alleged that BJP leaders are diverting the attention of masses from real issues by making such comments on Congress leaders.

"BJP minister Singh has proved by commenting on Sonia Gandhi that he is not a capable minister and Prime Minister Narendra Modi must sack him from cabinet with immediate effect," he said.

Kasana said Congress will continue its protest against Singh till the moment he is not sacked from the Union cabinet.

Later, the Congress activists burnt an effigy of Singh.

Suresh Raina to get engaged to Priyanka today in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: Star cricketer Suresh Raina will get engaged to Priyanka Chaudhary on Wednesday at his Ghaziabad residence.
His entire house has been decorated for the occasion. Priyanka’s family members have begun from Meerut for Ghaziabad with the ‘shagun’.
Eunuchs were also seen in his house as they are thronging in his residence for money.
Raina will get into the wedlock with Priyanka on April 3, who is currently working in The Netherlands. The Chaudhury family hails from Meerut and they know Raina’s family from a long time.

According to a report, Raina’s father and Priyanka’s father have been colleagues at the Muradnagar ordinance factory. “They know each other from a long time, but it’s been six months since both of them have been serious about the relationship,” a source said.
Apart from the wedding ceremony, a special reception party will be thrown at a farm house in Delhi.
Among the special guests, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav have also been invited. A senior BCCI official confirmed that the Board officials have also been invited.

Cool-cool Baraatis: UP Roadways to provide ‘AC Janrath buses’ for marriage parties

Ghaziabad: Uttar Pradesh roadways on Thursday announced its plan to provide rental air-conditioned bus service 'Janrath' on low cost to marriage parties.

The affordable service will give its 2x2 'Janrath Buses' on rent for marriages and other tourist purposes, said Ashok Kumar Shrotriya, additional regional manager of UPSRTC. The booking of the three 40 seater AC 'Janrath Buses' will be done on 'first come first serve basis' at ARM office, Sahibabad and consumers will be charged Rs 20,000/per bus (excluding night charge), he said.
All the buses have been fitted with 2x2 push-back seats. The buses would be equipped with LED screens with 4 channel music system giving passengers a leisure time to enjoy their journey. Baraatis can also access internet on Wi-fi during their travel.

A GPS tracking system has been fitted to know the location of bus, he said. On an average rupees 1.25 per kilometer/per passenger will be charged for 400 kilometers per day.

Mentally challenged girl dies of burn in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: A 15-year-old mentally-challenged girl died of her burn injuries that she received on Sunday, police said.

The incident took place under the Masuri police station on Sunday night when the victim, Danishta, was preparing dinner after a marriage function in her house, SHO S P Singh said.

After some time, she was rushed to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries, police said, adding the matter is under investigation.
