Mother dairy milk samples found containing detergent, frozen fat: FDA

Lucknow: The re-tests reports of Mother Dairy milk samples -- taken from Ghaziabad -- have revealed that the samples are of sub-standard quality and contain detergent and frozen fat. During re-tests of Mother Dairy milk samples, the Central Food Laboratory in Kolkata, has found detergent and frozen fat. The district Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) department had collected milk samples from Mother Dairy booths here in January 2015.

On January 11 this year, District FDA teams had collected samples of full cream milk from a Mother Dairy booth located at H-Block in Govindpuram, while samples of toned milk were collected from the booth situated at 100 feet road in Loni, in the district on January 30.

Both milk samples were sent to state Laboratory at Meerut for testing, where the samples were found to be of sub-standard as they contained "low fat".

But Mother Dairy challenged the reports of the test and sought re-tests of samples at Kolkata-based Central Laboratory, FDA official Vineet Kumar said here on Thursday.

The test report of Kolkata's Central Laboratory has been submitted to the District Magistrate Vimal Kumar Sharma, who in turn will forward it to the Commissioner to seek his approval to initiate legal action against Mother Dairy, the official said.

Meanwhile, Marketing head of Mother Dairy, Sandeep Ghosh said that they were yet to receive re-test report of the Kolkata-based Central Laboratory.

As there were contradictions between the two test reports, Mother Dairy will approach appropriate legal forum to challenge them, Ghosh added.
