Man arrested for harassing schoolgirls in Ghaziabad

Three men in their twenties were accused of harassing schoolgirls in Siddharth Vihar, Ghaziabad.

The police arrested one accused, Babloo (25), while the other two managed to flee.

They lodged an FIR against Babloo under sections of the IPC, pertaining to outraging the modesty of a woman (354), sexual harassment (354A), intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace (504) and criminal intimidation (506). Besides, relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 have also been invoked against the accused.

According to the police, the accused passed vulgar comments on the girls on their way to school. One of the girls was a minor who complained of regular harassment.

"The girl had complained of routine harassment by the youth. We, however, were handed over only one person", said a cop.

Both the accused and the minor are the residents of Sector 11 in Pratap Vihar, Ghaziabad.
