Communal violence in Ghaziabad; 30 injured

Clash of Hindu and Muslim mobs in Ghaziabad injured around 30 people, including three policemen.

The riot took place over the use of loudspeakers, police said on Monday. Several shops were looted and vehicles were set ablaze at Farid Nagar.

The incident took place when the two communities quarrelled over the use of loudspeakers in two adjacent places of worship. When people from one community tried to shut down the loudspeaker of the other community, the quarrel led to clashes.

A case for rioting has been registered against hundreds of people including former Farid Nagar chairman Lalit Garg and local councillor identified as Arif.
