One injured in Acid tanker burst in Ghaziabad factory

A storage tanker containing acid burst in a factory injuring one person on Thursday within the premises of MSB Chemicals in Mohan Nagar's Rajendra Nagar Industrial Area.

The incident took place a little after 2.30pm when most of the unit's workers had dispersed for lunch.

Harpreet Singh, a 32-year-old worker, was transferring the acid from a large iron storage tank to a smaller container when the mishap happened. Singh was rushed to Delhi's GTB Hospital from where he was later shifted to Safdarjung Hospital in the evening.

The tanker contained a dilute form of acid, usually used for cleaning toilets and bathroom floors. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained", Gyan Singh, proprietor of the unit, said. On receiving the information, cops from the Sahibabad police station rushed to the spot immediately. The fire brigade was called by the factory management.

"The condition of the injured worker is stable. No other worker was injured", said ASP Vipin Tada.
