75 laptops stolen from godown, protesters block road

75 laptops worth Rs 20 lakh were stolen from a computer showroom's godown on Ambedkar Road in Ghaziabad.

Members of five traders' associations in the area staged a protest on Ambedkar Road, which brought the traffic to a standstill for close to two hours.

Police said that around 6.30am, a security guard called the owner of the showroom of Royal Computer, Piyush Batra, and informed him that the shutters of the shop were broken and a burglary had taken place at the godown. "When I reached the shop I saw that the locks were broken and 75 laptops of various companies worth Rs 20 lakh were stolen", Batra said.

"The theft was committed around 4.45am. The burglars did not enter the showroom in order not to attract attention. Initial investigation suggests that the theft was committed by a seasoned gang", said Anil Yadav, circle officer.

Meanwhile, the protesters blocked the Ambedkar road demanding immediate arrest of the burglars.
