International Women’s Day: No DND toll for women for women drivers today

Noida: The Delhi-Noida-Delhi (DND) Flyway has been kept toll free for women drivers to mark the International Women's Day today. The Noida Toll Bridge Company Limited (NTBCL) on last Friday had announced that the DND flyway will remain free for 24 hours - starting from 12am - 12pm on Tuesday.

All women drivers will be exempted regardless of the vehicle they are driving. 

Anwar Abbasi, NTBCL spokesperson, said that toll free vehicle movement will be allowed on both sides of the flyway - at Noida toll plaza and Mayur Vihar toll plaza. The toll staffs will greet women commuters. First few women drivers will be gifted bouquet at the toll plaza," he said.

To avail the exemption from toll payment, the women must be on the driving seat while male colleagues are sitting inside the vehicle.

A commuter pays Rs 28 for a one-way commute in a four-wheeler and Rs 12 for a one-way commute on a two-wheelers.

According to reports, the average footfall at the DND Flyway on a weekday is around 1.25 lakh. There are about 5-7 thousand women drivers who use the Flyway every day.

The DND Flyway is an eight-lane 9.2km access controlled tolled expressway which connects Delhi to Noida.
