Amity University student shot dead at his Noida flat

Noida: A 21-year-old student of an Amity University was allegedly shot dead at his house in Noida on Saturday allegedly by one of his friends, who was also studying at the same university. The deceased boy, who has been identified as Rama Raju Sandesh, died on the spot.

Sandesh, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, was the second year student of B.Sc Marine Sciences. Aman, the accused, was a student of Tourism.

The incident took place around 3:30pm on Saturday when some people rand the doorbell of Sandesh's flat. Police said he opened the door and the attackers shot him and fled the spot.

Police said that Sandesh was staying at Lotus Boulevard society with his two more friends -- Madhur and Nadeem -- who are students of the same university. On Saturday, when he was at his residence, somebody came to the door. His friends said they heard him scream ‘Aman, don’t kill me’ and then they heard two gun shots. They saw two persons fleeing the spot,” said Vijay Dhull, assistant superintendent of police, Noida.

Police said there are no CCTV cameras installed in the society where Sandesh was living. The police have corroborated the statements of deceased’s friends with the statements of the eyewitnesses and found that two suspects had entered the society. However, none of his friend knew about any person named Aman.

“A case under section 302 of IPC was registered at Sector 39 police station against the accused Aman and another unidentified person. The body has been sent for postmortem, reports of which are awaited. We have also recovered an axe from the spot. The body had multiple wounds,” Dhull said.

Police have constituted four teams to nab the accused.
