Gautambudh Nagar DM's residence gheraoed by hundreds of villagers

Villagers in large numbers surrounded the residence of Gautambudh Nagar district magistrate in Sector 27 in Noida today afternoon protesting against the decision of Uttar Pradesh government regarding the panchayat elections.

The UP government has decided that no panchayat elections will take place in Gautam Budh Nagar. This decision disappointed the villagers following which they started their protest. According to villagers, the move is likely to help acquisition of village land by the Noida and Greater Noida authorities and further cut short their rights.

Meanwhile, Gautambudh Nagar district magistrate NP Singh commented on the issue and said, "In a democratic structure, everybody has right to register protest but only in a democratic manner. We urge from the farmers to maintain peace. There issue will be raised before the state government."
