A security guard of a high-rise in Greater Noida was arrested late on Friday night after he allegedly barged into the flat of a young engineer staying alone and tried to assault her, police said.

The 26-year-old accused was drunk at the time of the incident in Surajpur area around 10.30pm on Friday. Raj Kumar, a resident of Hathras, allegedly barged into her 11th floor flat but fled after she raised an alarm.

“...we filed an FIR for rape attempt and house trespass against the accused,” said Surajpur station house officer Maneesh Saxena.

The accused went into hiding after the incident, and police picked up his brother, who too works as a security guard at the same high-rise.

“The accused guard was finally found hiding in a bathroom of a vacant flat. He was arrested,” Saxena added.

Police said Kumar admitted he was drunk, saying he inadvertently went to that flat and found the doors open.

According to police, the high-rise has some vacant flats, which have been occupied by the security guards.
