CM Akhilesh Yadav launches official jersey of Delhi Dynamos in Agra

Agra: Uttar Pradesh Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday evening unveiled the official jersey of football club Delhi Dynamos for the second season of Indian Super League in front of the Taj Mahal. He also promised to support football in the state at the grassroots level.

"For promoting cricket we have taken a big leap. Perhaps India's best cricket stadium is coming up in Lucknow. Football is a game which common people can also play and the costs are not high compared to other games. It will be our effort to develop football stadiums in the state," Mr. Yadav said.

Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos, who is currently the manager of the club, was present at the event along with the entire team Florent Malouda, John Arne Riise, Adil Nabi, Robin Singh and Ravi Kumar . Also, present at the event was mayor Indrajeet Arya.

Delhi Dynamos president, Prashant Agarwal, announced his club's tie up with the UP Tourism department and also the plan to set up a football academy in the state.

CM announced that the state government has signed a memorandum of understanding for building a football stadium and also for opening an academy to promote talent in the state.

"The new football stadium in Lucknow will be built on a public-private partnership model. If the people of Agra come forward, the government will be provide land for building a stadium here as well. The government is ready to extend all support to promote this sport in Uttar Pradesh," he added.

Mr. Yadav, who is an avid football lover, displayed some footballing skills to former World Cup winner Roberto Carlos. While attending the 'Taj Nature Walk' program here, he also played football with Carlos.
