Illegal constructions near Yamuna bulldozed by Agra authority

In compliance of the order by National Green Tribunal (NGT), Agra Development Authority (ADA) along with departments concerned bulldozed the illegal constructions on flood plain and river bed of Yamuna, on Tuesday.

The action has been taken as part of NGT order and the anti-encroachment squad of ADA, backed by police force along with police and administrative officials demolished four illegal constructions in Amar Vihar and Nagla Talfi in Dayalbagh locality on flood plain and river bed of Yamuna.

In this regard, district and administrative officials on Monday inspected the banks of the Yamuna after a notice issued by the NGT. As per notice, Agra Development Authority (ADA), Agra Nagar Nigam (ANN) and the district administration have to respond by May 20, 2015.

It may be mentioned here that the notice has been issued on the basis of a petition filed by environmentalist and member of Supreme Court's monitoring committee DK Joshi.

The next hearing at NGT is scheduled on May 26, 2015.
