President to visit Allahabad today for 150th anniversary of Allahabad HC

Inauguration of the Allahabad High Court's 150th anniversary today will be done by president Pranab Mukherjee who is visiting Allahabad for this purpose.

The High Court of Judicature for the North-Western Provinces came into existence at Agra under a Letters Patent of March 17, 1866, according to a Rashtrapati Bhavan statement.

In 1869, the seat of the High Court was shifted from Agra to Allahabad.

Its designation was altered to the High Court of Judicature in Allahabad by a supplementary Letters Patent issued on March 11, 1919.

Chief Justice of India T S Thakur, Union Law Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, are among the dignitaries who will be present in the programme.
