Allahabad University students stop Yogi Adityanath from entering campus

The controversial BJP MP from Gorakhpur, Yogi Adityanath, who was scheduled to inaugurate a new building in Allahabad University today, was stopped from entering the campus by a section of students.

Terming him as 'communal' and 'controversial', the students said the leader would polarise the climate in the Central varsity.

According to a news report, the newly elected president of the University, Richa Singh, who contested independently said, "Yogi Adiyanath is a controversial leader who speaks on communal lines against Muslims."

"Here we have Muslim students too in the university. If any riot-like situation occurred after his speech on the campus, who will be responsible? The ABVP members invited Adityanath without consulting me and that is against the AUSU (Allahabad University Students Union) constitution", she added.

Singh, who called for the protest against the controversial leader, also raised objection against the fact that invitations carried her name, indicating her support.

Adityanath was invited by members of the students union affiliated to the ABVP to inaugurate the hall of newly-elected Allahabad University Students' Union (AUSU).
