Beer bar owner appointed as 'Mahamandaleshwar' in Allahabad

Allahabad: The honouring of bar owner of Noida as Mahamandaleshwar has sparked controversy. All India Akhara Parishad has ordered a probe into appointment of an owner of a beer bar, a realtor and an offender as 'Mahamandaleshwar' (a Sanskrit religio-theological title). Sachin Dutta alias Sachchidanand Giri, the bar owner of Noida, was honoured with the most revered status given to sadhus at a function held on the occasion of Guru Purnima in Allahabad.

"I have come to know about the dubious character of Sachchidanand Giri alias Sachin Dutta. This honour will be withdrawn if the charges were found true", said Narendra Giri, the president of the Parishad.

A four-member team of 'Mahanta' has been constituted to probe the matter.

"If he is a bar owner and an offender, then he doesn't deserve this. He is also supposed to know all the religious books and scriptures in Hindu religion. I have asked a committee to probe the matter. We will also take action against those mahamandaleshwars who supported him, if the complaint was found genuine", he added.

To note, Sachchidanand Giri alias Sachin Dutta had his own beer-bar in Noida, he was also associated with a real estate business before receiving 'sanyas' 22-years ago.

There is reportedly a case at Bisrakh police station against him for orchestrating an attack on himself to press upon the government to provide him security.
