Fighter Aircraft crashes near Allahabad

Indian Air Force's Jaguar fighter aircraft crashed today near Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh.

The plane which had taken off at 7:25 am was on a routine sortie.

It crashed about 18 kilometres from Allahabad at 8:47 am.

The pilot reportedly managed to eject safely before the aircraft crashed.

The cause of the crash is yet to be determined and a court of inquiry has been ordered by the Indian Air Force.

This is the second Jaguar aircraft of the Indian Air Force to have crashed this year. In March, a Jaguar fighter had crashed near Kurukshetra in Haryana after a technical snag; the pilot had ejected safely.
