Allahabad University to allot hostels to students online

Allahabad: The Allahabad University has announced to allot hostels to students through online medium to check illegal occupants from occupying hostels. This would put an end to the process of central admissions and the entire process will be made online, said reports.
A report in The newspaper suggests: This new decentralised mode of admissions to hostels was in practice till 1998 at a time when AU was a state university and Suraj Bhan was the governor of Uttar Pradesh. In his capacity as the chancellor of the university, he had implemented reservation system in admissions for these hostels.

However, the wardens and superintendents had refused to undertake the process, citing complications and disputes over implementation of the reservations in hostel admissions.
All the students, whether of undergraduate courses or postgraduate courses, will be allotted hostels on the basis of indicidual merit in the entrance test.
