Report of Kanpur metro submitted to UP government

The Uttar Pradesh government received the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Kanpur Metro Rail Project prepared by Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES) and the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC), said an official today.

Work on the project started in March 2015. In the report, two corridors are planned, the first begins from IIT Kanpur spanning up to Naubasta Chauraha and covers 23.785 kms with an elevated stretch of 15.164 km and an underground stretch of 8.621 km. The second corridor of 8.6 km stretch from Agriculture University to Barra-8 covers an elevated section of 4.19 km and an underground section of 4.41 km.

Kanpur metro trains will run on standard gauge track having a Peak Hour Direction Traffic of 16,800 passengers by 2021, said the DPR.
