Lorry collides with Kanpur-Mathura Express; one dead

Collision of a lorry with Kanpur-Mathura Express at a railway crossing near Jasoda railway station killed one and injured twenty two people.

The incident took place at 6 pm on Sunday when the loader was returning after unloading goods near Jasoda railway station. The train was coming from Kanpur. The vehicle was thrown metres away after the crash.

A few of the victims were on the lorry while others were waiting at the railway crossing for the train to pass.

Locals rushed to the spot when the accident took place and those who were seriously injured were immediately taken to Kanpur. Others are undergoing treatment at district hospital in Kannauj.

According to Kannauj district magistrate Anuj Kumar Jha, "One person died at the spot while others have been admitted at Kanshiram Hospital. The seriously injured patients have been referred to Kanpur."
