National level kabaddi player beaten up after she complained against harassers

Kanpur: In a frightening incident, a national level Kabaddi player was allegedly manhandled by a group of persons in Kanpur for complaining against them for harassing her.

The 18-year-old Dolly Singh says two men in her village are behind the attack, who had also sexually harassed her last month. They attacked her because she lodged a complaint against them, adds Dolly.

"On May, when I was at home in our locality Ujala Thakur and Rishi Gandhi had teased me. I resisted them and then I went back to my work. I am taking coaching at Orai. When I returned, on 15th evening they came to know I was at home. 10 to 12 men came at around 6:30 pm and thrashed me," the national kabaddi player said.

On June 15, Dolly was allegedly manhandled by some 10-12 boys with their faces covered. The attack resulted in a cracked nose besides other severe injuries.

"They entered and started beating me. I was beaten mercilessly and my clothes also got torn. I was injured as well," Dolly Singh said.

Meanwhile, the police have registered an FIR and said that action will soon be taken against the accused who are absconding after the incident.
