Kanpur Police to solve cases with the help of Mobile forensic van

Now, collection and examination of on-spot forensic evidence in Kanpur is set to get easier with the help of 'Mobile Forensic Van'.

According to a report, the vans are equipped with chemicals and modernised technology.

The mobile forensic vans will each have teams comprising three trained personnel along with a scientist. The vans will be stationed at the police district headquarters and be functional round-the-clock to be rushed to the scene of crime.

Laying stress on the need for making more scientific investigations, so that conviction rate could be increased, UP government has given modernised vans to eight zones including Kanpur.

In the cases of rape, with the help of this modernised facility, semen tests will be conducted on-spot and get monitored directly by forensic experts.

Talking about the special van SSP Shalabh Mathur said that van will be helpful in collecting on-spot forensic evidences and keeping them safe. It will also help in collecting finger prints of the criminals, conducting narcotics tests, semen tests etc.

He added that the van could be used in rescuing people trapped under debris.
