Infants die due to negligence in Kanpur; child panel seeks report

National Commission for Protection of Child Rights seeks report within 30 days for the complaints about rotten mid day meal and deaths of newly born children in Upper India Sugar Exchange Hospital by the district magistrate after holding an inquiry in the two cases.

A complaint was lodged before the commission that students of a primary school in Kanpur were being given substandard and rotten mid day meal. The meal which was not fit for human consumption.

In another complaint, it was alleged that due to negligence of doctors in NICU of Upper India Exchange Hospital attached to LLR Hospital as many as 6 newly born children died. The hospital had no ventilators. The behavior of doctors with patients was not polite.

The district magistrate has been directed to send reports on the matter within 30 days.
