Kanpur: 14 coaches of Sealdah-Ajmer Express derailed, several injured

Kanpur: On Wednesday morning 14 coaches of Sealdah-Ajmer Express derailed. At least 40 people were injured in this accident. The train derailed between Rura-Metha in Kanpur Dehat.

The mishap occurred at about 5:20 AM. This mishap occurred 50 kms from Kanpur.

Kanpur Rail division official said that "The 14 waggons of the Sealdah-Ajmer express train 12988 derailed in the wee hours."

Rescue and relief operations were being carried out by district administration and railway officials. Meanwhile, more rescue teams were rushed from Etawah and Kanpur to the accident site.

According to the source the cause of the derailment was not known immediately.
