Mulayam Singh's 76th Birthday: CM Akhilesh hoists National Flag in Lucknow today

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav unfurled the national tricolor measuring 60x90 feet at Janeshwar Mishra Park, Gomati Nagar on the occasion of the 77th birthday of the Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav on Sunday.

As per the code of conduct for hoisting the national flag, it should be taken down at sunset but LDA has sought special permission for keeping the flag flying during both day and night.

Reportedly, around Rs 1 crore have been spent on installation of this flag post. Officials said CM will also launch CDs of 'LDA Song' on the special occasion.

For illumination at night, LED lights have been installed around the pole. For security reasons, CCTV cameras will be installed and personnel deployed to safeguard the tricolour round the clock.

"Extreme weather conditions may damage the flag but we would take proper measures according to the rules and would replace the flag with a new one every few months," LDA officials said.

The 207-feet pole is the exact replica of the flag-pole at Connaught place in Delhi.
