Mulayam Singh Yadav sidesteps Sonia's Iftar dinner

Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav dodged the Iftar dinner hosted by Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday.

Yadav in a letter written to Sonia Gandhi earlier in the day said that an 'urgent work' had occurred so he would not be able to attend the party as he had to rush to Lucknow.

However, other Janata Parivar outfits like RJD and JD-U including Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar were present at the event.

A brief appearance was made by CPI-M leader Mohd Salim and senior BSP leader Satish Chandra Mishra was also present.

Other dignitaries who attended the dinner were NCP chief Sharad Pawar, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, DMK leader Kanimozi, JD-U chief Sharad Yadav and his associate K C Tyagi.

Prem Chand Gupta and Jaya Prakash Yadav were deputed by RJD supremo Lalu Prasad as he could not come due to prior commitments.
