IPS officer Amitabh Thakur seeks CBI probe into rape charges against him

New Delhi/Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh IPS officer Amitabh Thakur on Monday reached Union Home Ministry to meet Additional Home Secretary, Anant Kumar Singh and sought CBI probe into the charges against him. Mr. Thakur said that the secretary had assured him to look into the issue.

On Sunday, the rape case was slapped on him after Mr. Thakur filed a complaint against the Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav for allegedly threatening him over the phone.

Claiming the rape charges as "return gift" from the SP chief, Mr. Thakur said, " My fault was that I made public the audio recording of the threat i had received from Mulayam Singh Yadav and also submitted a complaint against him in this regard at a police station."

Addressing a press conference today along with his wife Nutan Thakur, the IPS officer blamed that the Mulayam was conspiring against him.

The fight between Mr. Thakur and Mulayam Singh started when an FIR was registered against UP's mining minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, UP state women's commission chairperson, Zarina Usmani and six others on the complaint of Nutan Thakur.

On Saturday, Mr. Thakur had submitted a complaint against Mulayam at Hazratganj police station for allegedly threatening him.
