The Haj House in Lucknow was on Friday painted in saffron shade, the outside wall of the Haj pilgrimage house was earlier in green and white in colour now been painted to saffron.

The move has, however, triggered opposition from various political parties and Darul Uloom.

Coming out in defence of the move, Uttar Pradesh minister Mohsin Raza said that there is no need for any controversy on the matter and that the Opposition has been raising inconsequential things against the government.

"There is no need for controversy in such things. Saffron is an energetic and bright looking colour and the building looks beautiful. Opposition has no big issues against us so they raise inconsequential things," Raza said.

Recently, the office of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister - the Lal Bahadur Shastri Bhawan was also painted in the saffron colour.

The development comes days after CM Adityanath reduced the number of holidays allotted to state-recognised madrassas in the calendar for the year 2018, drawing flak from Islamic institutions.
