Dalit scholar harassed by Central University of Rajasthan VC; case filed

In yet another case of Dalit student harassment following the ongoing case of Hyderabad University student Rohith Vemula's suicide; Vice Chancellor AK Pujari and some professors of Central University of Rajasthan has come under scanner.

FIR has been filed against the VC and seven other people in Ajmer for allegedly harassing a Dalit scholar.

Umesh Kumar Jonwal, a research scholar, has accused Professor Jagdish Ullahs Jadhav and associate professor Atique Ahmed of harassment and criminal conspiracy. The scholar was expelled last year in October after he remained absent from the university continuously for 15 days, despite of submitting an illness certificate. The certificate was however not accepted.

According to Jonwal, Professor Jadhav demanded Rs 10,000 from him for every semester and he paid the amount thrice. But, when stopped paying the money, he was abused and harassed by the professor who said that he wasn't fit for research work.
