New audio tape spells trouble for Asaram

Jodhpur: After receiving an audio tape which allegedly contain a conversation between self-styled godman Asaram Bapu and Kripal Singh, a key witness who was recently killed allegedly by the disciples of the 74-year-old Asaram, the Shahjahanpur police are exploring possibilities of booking fresh charges of sabotaging justice and murder on the rape accused.

In the purported audio clip, Asaram is being heard offering money to Kripal Singh. The voice which sounds like of Asaram heard telling that he, the witness, "would get fifty per cent in advance and the rest would be given after the job is done."

The eight months old audio clip was handed over to police by Kripal Singh's  father who claimed that his son had given it to him to make a point that Asaram has access to cell phone even in the jail premises. The police which has sent the tape for forensic labs to ascertain its genuineness, are investigating if the alleged conversation between Kripal Singh and Asaram had anything to do with his death.

The conversation between the two is said to have been facilitated by Raghav and Sanjay, two disciples of Asaram who are key suspects in the murder case of Kripal.

“I keep my promises. You know it. You will be given fifty per cent of it is before the work is done and rest after its completion,” says the voice which sounds similar to that of Asaram in the tape.

Kripal Singh was attacked in Shahjahanpur on July 10 who died in a Bareilly hospital the next day. So far, nine witnesses have been attacked and Kripal was the third one to have died in the Asaram rape case.

Notably, Asaram has been in Jodhpur jail since September 2013 for allegedly raping a minor girl at his ashram.
