Lucknow: A major portion of under construction flyover collapsed on Saturday morning in Uttar Pradesh's Basti.

According to the sources, the incident took place in the wee hours of Saturday, a huge portion of the flyover being constructed on National Highway Authourity of India(NHAI) collapsed at Phuttaiya Chowraha and around 4 people got injured.

Basti District Magistrate Raj Shekhar said “The incident took place in the morning in which a labourer on night-shift duty was injured. He was immediately admitted to the district hospital,”.

No reports of casualities recorded so far, but 2 people were evacuated under debris. The rescue operation is underway.

The Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the incident and instructed the local authorities to initiates immediate releif work and to resume the traffic. As the taffic on National Highway had been temporarily closed.

The project Director of NHIA for the northern division had been asked to initiate the probe in  the incident.

The crash comes two months after a similar portion of another under-construction flyover in Varanasi collapsed leaving 18 dead and many injured.
